18th - 25th May 2017: Jin Donghan (President, Shanghai University) led a delegation to visit Stanford University, the University of Pennsylvania in the US, Vancouver Film School and the University of Toronto in Canada. The delegation and representatives of both schools explored and highlighted issues related to the high school research management system, innovation, and entrepreneurship, interdisciplinary research, and prospects for cooperation. The delegation included Wang Tingyun (Director of Planning & Development and Dean of School of Communication and Information Engineering, Shanghai University), Wu Yingjun (Vice President of School of Mechanical Engineering and Automation Luo Jun, and Deputy Director of International Affairs, Shanghai University).
On May 18th, the delegation visited Stanford University Institute of Technology, Hansen Experimental Physics Laboratory, and Bio-X Research Center.
On May 19th, the delegation visited Vancouver Film School. Both parties exchanged their ideas for the development of Vancouver Film School.
On May 22nd, President Jin Donghan visited the Wharton School of Business (University of Pennsylvania). Dean Garrett introduced the history and concept of the school and the exchanges between the college and universities in China to the delegation, and fully communicated and exchanged ideas with President Jin Donghan on the progress of the cooperation and future arrangements between the two parties. Then, Vice Dean Sam Lundquist led this delegation to visit the campus and introduced its school characteristics.
On May 23rd, the delegation including Prof. Chris Yip (Associate Professor, International Relations), Prof. Cristina Amon (Dean, Applied Science and Engineering), Prof. Chi-Guhn Lee (Director, Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Department) and Professor Sun Yu visited the University of Toronto and discussed future cooperation. President Jin Donghan and members visited the Advanced Microsystems and Nanometer Laboratory, the Toronto General Hospital and the Ted Rogers Heart Research Center to exchange opinion about research and application perspective, and interdisciplinary organization and management mechanism. Moreover, the delegation also observed the isolated heart perfusion technology and its implementation in the Toronto General Hospital.
