Brief Introduction to the Project
School of Mechatronics Engineering and Automation
“Sustainable Energy and Architecture” Science Bridge Project
Sino- UK Science Bridge Project is the consensus achieved in the high-level dialogue between Primer Wen Jiabao and Pre-Prime Minister Brown. “Sustainable Energy and Architecture” Science Bridge Project by Queen’s University, Belfast is one of the four Sino- UK Science Bridge Projects supported by UK Government. Shanghai University, Queen’s University, Belfast, Shanghai Automation Instrumentation Limited by Share Ltd and Shanghai Baosight Software Limited by Share Ltd further founded “Energy and Automation Joint Laboratory”. Shanghai University and Queen’s University, Belfast applied together for and undertook many cooperative projects supported by governments, such as British EPSRC Funding and National Natural Science Foundation of China.
Projects of Various Types and Classes by Sino-Sweden Joint Micro System Integration Technology Center
Sino-Sweden Joint Micro system Integration Technology Center was founded by Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden, and Shanghai University, China in 2003. Scientific researches in the center are application-oriented. The center offers the research and education services of Micro System Integration Technology to electronic industry and undertakes projects of various types and classes, such as EU Framework Project, projects supported by of Department of International Cooperation, Ministry of Science and Technology of PRC, State High-tech Research and Development Project (the 863 Project), National Natural Science Foundation of China, Shanghai Municipal Committee of Science and Technology and Shanghai Municipal Committee of Education.
Cooperation between Shanghai University and Norwegian University of Science and Technology and SINTEF
In 2002, Shanghai Municipal Key Laboratory of Mechanical Automation and Robotics of  School of Mechatronics Engineering, Shanghai University and Knowledge Discovery and Management Center of Production and Quality Engineering Department Automation, Norwegian University of Science and Technology established the Agreement on “ ‘Knowledge Discovery and Management’ Laboratory and Science and Technology Cooperation between CIMS and Robotics Center of School of Mechatronics Engineering, Shanghai University and Knowledge Discovery and Management Center of Production and Quality Engineering Department Automation, Norwegian University of Science and Technology”. Since 2003, Professor Kesheng Wang of Norwegian University of Science and Technology and Professor Minglun Fang of Shanghai University have applied jointly for the project of the National Natural Science Foundation of China and it has been approved. In October 2008, under the organization and leadership of Professor Kesheng Wang, SINTEF visited Shanghai University, and singed a 5-year cooperation agreement with School of Mechatronics Engineering, Shanghai University.
Joint Application for International Cooperation of Shanghai University and Tokyo Institute of Technology
In October 2004, the two sides succeeded in application for Shanghai Municipal International Cooperative Project of “Key Technology of Low Altitude Tracking of Ground Moving Target based on Bionic Eye Movement” with its project number 045107031. And the two sides embarked on substantive research. In June 2007, after the project was approved by the check of Shanghai Municipal Committee of Science and Technology, the two sides began the further research of Bionic mechanism and attained breakthrough, which won the support from the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the National 863 Project, Shanghai Municipal Dawn Planning, key project of the Ministry of Education of PRC and scientific research innovation key project of Shanghai Municipal Committee of Science and Technology.
School of Materials Science and Engineering
Expansion Process of Crack in Amorphous Alloys and Amorphous/ Nanocrystalline Alloy Compound Materials
In 2010, School of Materials Science and Engineering published academic papers and cultivated postgraduates jointly with Australian National University in the fields of Materials and Mechanics.

From July 1 to August 31, 2010, School of Materials Science and Engineering carried out cooperative experimental researches of novel functional materials with Ruhr-University Bochum, Germany.

From 2007 to 2008, School of Materials Science and Engineering embarked on the cooperation with Purdue University, US in Metal Solidification field. Dr. Changjiang Song took part in the research work with the foreign team in Purdue University.

From September 2007 to June 2008, School of Materials Science and Engineering carried out the Robert Bosch Foundation cooperative project of Micro Droplets in the Rapid Thermal Analysis with Rostock University, Germany.

From January 2008 to September 2010, School of Materials Science and Engineering carried out cooperative researches in Electromagnetic Metallurgy and Electrochemistry with TU Dresden, Germany, and paid visits to each other.

From 2006 to 2008, School of Materials Science and Engineering jointly undertook Shanghai municipal international cooperative projects of materials with Forschungszentrum Rossendorf Research Center, Germany.

From 2004 to 2006, School of Materials Science and Engineering undertook 2004 Sino- France Advanced Research Planning of Ministry of Science and Technology of PRC in the field of Material Metallurgy with INPG/CNR, France.
Basic Research of Microstructure and Properties of Optimized Material under Strong Magnetic Field
From 2010 to 2012, School of Materials Science and Engineering has jointly undertaken projects of the National Natural Science Foundation with INPG and Metz University.

From 2009 to 2011, School of Materials Science and Engineering cooperatively undertook projects of Shanghai Municipal Committee of Science and Technology with INPG.

From October 2007 to September 2009, School of Materials Science and Engineering carried out the cooperative projects, supervised postgraduates, issued research papers and applied for the patents jointly with University of Wollongong, Australia.

On April 2, 2008, College of Sciences signed an agreement on cooperative research projects with Nano Science and Devices Group, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, US Department of Energy.

School of Communication and Information Engineering
International Cooperative Project Support of EU Framework 7(FP7) “Mary Curie” Action
In 2010, researcher Longxiang Zeng of School of Communication and Information Engineering succeeded in obtaining an International Cooperative Project Support of EU Framework 7(FP7) “Mary Curie” Action. He signed an international cooperative agreement with Technical University of Denmark and achieved the funding of € 303, 598 to carry out the 3-year cooperative scientific research. At present, Associate Professor Zhi Liu has already signed a preliminary cooperative agreement with INRIA, and he will hopefully obtain another International Cooperative Project Support of EU Framework 7(FP7) “Mary Curie” Action.

From December 2005 to December 2007, School of Communication and Information Engineering undertook international cooperative projects of Shanghai Municipal Committee of Science and Technology.

School of Environmental and Chemical Engineering
One More Step Project of EU Erasmus Mundus Project
Since 2006, School of Environmental and Chemical Engineering has established cooperative relationship with Trento University, Italy, and 2 postgraduates have entered joint education procedure. As a member of cooperation, Shanghai University joined in the One Step Project of EU Erasmus Mundus Project in the charge of Professor Miliaresi in 2011. At present, Sun Yat-sen University, Jinlin University and Shanghai University take part in this project. Related activities are on.
Cooperative Project of Suzhou Creek Sediment Environmental Hormone and Dioxin-like Compounds Monitoring
School of Environmental and Chemical Engineering cooperates with Japan Saitama Environment Science International Center, which ranks the first among the county environment monitoring and research institutions in Japan. The center boasts the first-class environment monitoring technology and facilities. The two sides have commenced exchanges and cooperation since 2004, and signed an agreement on friendly cooperation in March 2008. Till now, 14 Master students and 4 teachers went to the center for internship and visits. The two sides have carried out several cooperative projects, for example, Cooperative Project of Suzhou Creek Sediment Environmental Hormone and Dioxin-like Compounds Monitoring. There are many academic visits between the school and the center. The two sides are planning more influential Sino- Japan international cooperative projects and invite more faculty to participate in the communication.
School of Life Sciences
Cooperative Agreement on “Development of high sensitive protein chip”
In October 2009, Associate Professor Hongxia Chen of School of Life Sciences jointly signed the cooperative Agreement on “Developemnt of high sensitive protein chip” with Professor Kwannak Koh and Professor Jeaboem Lee of Nanometer Science and Technology College of Pusan National University. From 2010 to 2011, the two sides held two scientific research development exchanges and discussions respectively in South Korea and Weihai, China.
Memorandum of Project Cooperation Agreement on “Electrochemical Nanometer Immunosensor for the Early Detection of Tumor Markers”
From June 6 to 10, 2011, Vice President amd Professor S. H. Pawar of D. Y. Patil University, India was invited to Shanghai University and signed jointly a 3-year Memorandum of Project Cooperation Agreement on “Electrochemical Nanometer Immunosensor for the Early Detection of Tumor Markers” with Professor Genxi Li of School of Life Sciences.
Agreement on Common Support for Sino-US Green Cooperative Partner (Wetland Research)
December 2011, School of Life Sciences signed the Agreement on Common Support for Sino-US Green Cooperative Partner (Wetland Research) with East China Normal University, the two universities made contributions to the long-term Sino- US wetland protection, wetland ecological restoration (including the urban, rural and natural systems), improvement of wetland environment and economic sustainability with Tulane University, US by cooperative research, knowledge sharing, local capacity establishment and best practice exchanges, demos and spreading.
